Have you ever experienced the frustration of
losing your keys?! I have! I've been locked out of my house, my car, my office
and even my phone! Ugh! There are very few things more frustrating than running
out the door (already 5 minutes late!) jump in the car and realize you don't
have your keys! After running back in the house, turning every room upside
down, ransacking through drawers, coat pockets, pant pockets...yeah, pretty
much EVERYWHERE! You ask your roommate if they have seen your keys. They smile
and say, "Oh, do you mean the ones sitting next to the toaster?"
Yeah, that toaster, the one with two cold slices of toast still sitting in the
toaster waiting to buttered and eaten! Palm to the forehead, and a muttered,
"Doh!" You shake your head, internally berate yourself and outwardly
thank your roommate for their keen observation! You snatch up your keys and
head back to the car to try again! This time you are able to start the car and
drive away! Now you are less frustrated. In fact, you are actually feeling
relieved, feeling pretty good and ready to start your day! What changed?
How did you move from feeling frustrated and berating yourself to relieved and
ready to move forward?
(If you are reading my blog because you know
I am a Life Coach you probably know where I am going with this little scenario...)
Life can be a wondrous delight! WHEN we know
what we want and we have a plan on how we are going to get there. Life can be
complicated, confusing and overwhelming when we don't know what we want and we
don't have a plan. In fact, we can't even come up with a plan because we don't
know where we want to go! When that happens, life can feel downright dull,
lonely, unfulfilling and lacking.
However, it doesn't have to be that way! It
is possible to change your life and take it from unfulfilling to joyful! Like
the roommate in the description above, a Life Coach can help you! Your
Life Coach can ask you questions that guide you to finding the answers you
are looking for! In the "Lost Keys, Cold Toast" scenario you knew you
set the keys down by the toaster, it was a conscience thought. But somewhere
between toasting the bread and walking out the door you got distracted, maybe a
text message or running into the bedroom to find your shoes, whatever it may
have been, big or small, it distracted you enough to lose sight of your plan.
That's what happens in life! We have big ideas, and great intentions. We have a
deep seeded desire to feel fulfilled in our life. We know we have passions and
a purpose but we have been distracted with day to day life that we lose our
vision. We find ourselves going through the motions of life but not really
LIVING life!
I have worn a variety of hats in my life.
I've been a teacher, a case manager, a flight attendant, a hospice volunteer,
I've helped at food banks and assisted the homeless. Some of these are paid
professions, some are not. Some of them are glamorous. Others not so much!
There is one thing they all have in common, they are all acts of service. I
have always been driven by helping other people. It is something that comes
easily and natural to me. In fact, I can go as far as to say I believe I have
been given a gift. A gift to serve other people, to make their life a little
better because I was a part of it. Discovering my gift and unlocking my
potential has brought me tremendous joy! As a Life Coach that is what I want to
do, and can do, for you! If you have been considering working with a Life Coach
stop considering it and take the next step! Book a complimentary session with
me and we can outline your goals, discover your passions, ignite your
enthusiasm for life and begin a wonderful journey together.
